Year: 2022

Mark your calendars for these upcoming instrument and data team meetings.

CERES Spring 2022 Science Team Meeting: April 26-28, 2022

You can find more information, including the meeting agenda and virtual meeting link, by visiting the CERES website.

Check the Terra website often for additional 2022 instrument team meeting dates, as they’re made available.

Data Webinar — Learn How to View and Download Data from LAADS DAAC: April 28, 2022; 2 pm – 3 pm EDT

Want to learn how to access and download Level-1 or atmospheric data sets from NASA’s Level-1 and Atmosphere Archive and Distribution System Distributed Active Archive Center (LAADS DAAC)? Unsure about how to use the new View Data tool? Join experts from LAADS DAAC to learn about how to search and order from LAADS DAAC’s vast collection of Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS), Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS), European Space Agency Copernicus Sentinel-3A and -3B, and ESA Envisat MEdium Resolution Imaging Spectrometer (MERIS) datasets. Also, learn how to order datasets with post-processing operations in the Find Data tool, allowing researchers to download just the data they need, in the desired output. You can find more information on the webinar homepage, and can register for the webinar using this link (also available on the webinar homepage).

If you follow news and updates provided by the Terra website, or have ever sent in a question about Terra, you’re probably familiar with the amazing work of Tassia Owens, the previous Senior Communications Specialist for the Terra mission! She’s been with the team nearly an entire decade, curating the Terra website and developing several outreach and educational resources. As of March 2022, Tassia has taken a new Senior Communications Specialist role within NASA’s Level-1 and Atmosphere Archive & Distribution System / Distributed Active Archive Center (LAADS DAAC). Thank you for all your hard work sharing Terra with the world throughout the years – we’ll miss you!

Nyssa Rayne will be providing Terra communications as the new Outreach Coordinator. She’ll be updating the Terra website and providing additional information on Terra’s orbital drift, the satellite’s upcoming October 2022 constellation exit, and potential research opportunities resulting from these orbit path changes.   Feel free to reach out to Nyssa if you have any questions related to Terra or the Terra website, and she’ll do her best to answer them (or find an expert who can!).

Introducing the new View Data Tool, from LAADS DAAC.

Introducing View Data, a new visual search tool from the Level-1 and Atmosphere Archive and Distribution System Distributed Active Archive Center (LAADSDAAC), that allows users to preview Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) and Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) atmospheric datasets before downloading.
