Evidence of Terra’s accomplishments and continuing scientific merit is seen in data distribution and publication statistics. More than 1,700 peer-reviewed publications using Terra data appeared in 2016, bringing a lifetime total to nearly 15,000. Citation numbers of nearly 49,000 for 2016 and more than 280,000 over Terra’s lifetime demonstrate the broad utility of the data.
