Terra Weekly Mission Status Update

Weekly Update Archive

October 15 - 21 2004

All Terra Subsystems and Instruments have performed nominally for the past week.

A kick-off meeting was held on Wednesday, October 13, for re-engineering the Terra control center with automation functionality. A demonstration of the re-engineered TRMM control center is planned for Monday, October 25. Plans are to re-engineer the Terra control center first, followed by Aura and Aqua.

Ground System and Data Processing System Anomalies/Issues:

  • Three Mission Impact Reports (MIRs) occurred this week having to do with K-band dropouts all from TDRSS Spare (TDS). This is a common problem that occurs more frequently (1-2 times per week) this time of year. In any event, no science data were lost due to replaying data on the next available TDRSS contact.
  • One MIR occurred this week due to a Ground Station Interface Facility (GSIF) configuration error. The problem was corrected and no science data were lost.
  • The scheduled transition of the ECS contract to the MOMS contract is planned for January 15, 2005 (Aura launch plus 180-Days). The FOT will transition on December 20, 2004.
