Terra Weekly Mission Status Update

Aug. 27-Sept. 2, 2004

The Terra spacecraft is operating nominally. All five instruments are in science mode.

The ESMO Project presented its findings and recommendations to recycle the power on the Terra Solid State Recorder(SSR). A GSFC review team from the Office of Systems Safety and Mission Assurance, the Flight Programs and Project Directorate, the Applied Engineering and Technology Directorate, NASA Engineering and Safety Center (NESC) and the Earth Science Directorate met on September 2 and concurred with the plan.

The Terra SSR contains 58 memory cards each with a current limiter circuit. Over the last 13 months 5 of 58 cards have shut down—likely from a false trip. The current limiter circuit can be reset by power cycling the SSR.

A MODIS lunar calibration roll maneuver was performed September 3, 2004.
