Terra Weekly Mission Status Update
Weekly Update Archive April 23-29, 2004 The Terra spacecraft is operating nominally. All five instruments are in science mode. A partial Solar Eclipse (eclipse of the Sun by the Moon) occurred from TerraÕs perspective on April 19 as Terra orbited between Antarctica and the southern coast of Africa. Impact to operations was minimal. Shadow was only 41 percent during taper charge mode. A 100 percent State of Charge was reached prior to entering spacecraft night. Results of the investigation into the Dec. 16, 2003, Safe Hold event on Terra were presented on April 28. This presentation included a summary of events, analysis, and recommendations for FSW patch implementation. Flywheel Code to prevent entering into Safe Mode during similar Single Event Upset (SEU) related rate data corruptions is in testing with a planned completion date of mid-June. There will be no MODIS lunar calibration roll maneuvers for the months of May and June due to the fact that the lunar view would require a roll in excess of the maximum value of 20 degrees allowed by the mission rules. The next Delta-V maneuver to compensate for atmospheric drag will be conducted in June. |
