Terra Weekly Mission Status Update
Weekly Update Archive

April 2-8, 2004

The Terra spacecraft is operating nominally. All five instruments are in science mode.

The weekly Tiger Team meeting was held on Tuesday, April 6, 2004. The team continues to work to diagnose the cause of K-band dropouts experienced by Terra.

The TDRS-F6 dropout signature has been identified. It is different from the dropout observed on TDRS-F5. The TDRS-F5 and F6 dropouts continue, and a proposed test is under evaluation to help isolate the cause and eliminate the ground station as the cause of the F5 dropouts by making the dropout measurement via an antenna system away from the White Sands ground station. This is being worked with the RF SOC. White Sands continues to support the weekly Tiger Team telecon, dropout signature image gathering, and the data loss documentation process. Active diagnosis and test support ended March 23 due to manpower resource conflicts with fleet operations. The Terra Flight Operations Team continues to work around the dropouts by recognizing the signature in the EOS Operations Center and performing Solid State Recorder replays as needed.

The Drag Make-up Delta-V Maneuver originally planned for March 24 was successfully executed on April 6.
